What inspired the name of your brand?
When I was contemplating the name for the brand, I felt a strong resonance with "Ceres Monae." "Ceres" symbolizes the goddess of harvest, and "Monae" embodies uniqueness. By combining these two elements, I aimed to create a brand that celebrates the unique, harvests creativity, and stands out in the world of fashion.

When did you know you wanted to become a designer?
Creativity has always been at the core of who I am. Whether it was singing, dancing, or exploring various forms of art, I saw fashion as a canvas to express these passions. After college, I decided to delve into design, recognizing the importance of acquiring technical skills such as sewing and draping to bring my creative visions to life.
What did the beginnings of Ceres Monae look like?
During the 2020 pandemic, I crafted one-of-a-kind bags and clothing. Initially unsure of where this venture would lead, I ended up completely selling out my first launch. In 2022, I officially established the Ceres Monae brand. Belief in the brand's vision propelled me forward, marking a humble yet promising beginning.
Where do you find inspiration?
My inspiration comes from a spiritual journey, a connection to something beyond the tangible. It shapes the essence of Ceres Monae, infusing each creation with depth and meaning.
How would you describe the style you aim for with your brand?
The style of Ceres Monae can be described as innovative, unique, artistic, and modern.
What made you want to design bags?
Designing bags appealed to me because it allowed the freedom to create sculptural shapes. Additionally, I recognized the waste within the leather industry and wanted to contribute to sustainability by utilizing excess leather from manufacturers in Italy, Spain, and the United States.
What sets your brand apart from the rest?
Ceres Monae stands out by offering not only unique pieces but also prioritizing conscious and sustainable practices.
What brand values are most important to Ceres Monae?
Ceres Monae’s core values revolve around a holistic approach to fashion, emphasizing creativity, sustainability, and a connection to a deeper spiritual meaning.
How does sustainability play a role in your brand?
Sustainability is the cornerstone of the brand. Using responsible material choices, is a top priority. Our dedication to sustainability is evident in our use of excess leather sourced from manufacturers, material that would otherwise contribute to landfills. Additionally, our ready-to-wear pieces are meticulously crafted using natural or deadstock materials.
What is the one piece of advice you would give to a new designer?
Experiment as much as you can to find your identity. In slower times, trust the process and stick to your vision. Success will come with perseverance.
What was your previous work experience before launching your brand?
Before launching Ceres Monae, I gained valuable experience working with retail stores such as California Cowboy, Steve Madden, and Black Tux as a sales associate
What was the toughest circumstance you overcame when starting your business?
The initial challenge was dealing with uncertainty—not knowing how the brand would be received. However, belief in the vision and the positive response from the first launch helped us overcome these challenges.
If you could go back and tell yourself one thing before beginning your career, what would it be?
Don't be too hard on yourself. Be patient and trust the process. It will work out, and the journey will be worth it.

What are your passions outside of fashion and design?
Outside of fashion and design, I have a passion for creating textual art and music. These allow me to express my creativity in diverse ways.
