What inspired you to start your own brand?
Having grown up in France, I've always appreciated how scarves are an integral part of everyday fashion. In contrast, I've noticed that in the US, while people have a love for vibrant colors, they don't often incorporate them into their outfits. My art is known for its bold and vivid colors, and I saw an opportunity to bring that vibrancy into people's wardrobes through the medium of scarves.

What did the beginnings of Isabelle Gougenheim Designs look like?
The beginnings of Isabelle Gougenheim Designs were characterized by what I would describe as "organized chaos." It all started with a wall full of inspirations and a mood board that guided the creative process. These inspirations came from a diverse mix of artists, colors, and cultural elements. This blend of influences came together to form the foundation of each collection. Our very first collection consisted of 5 to 6 designs, and we showcased our work in three shows per year. This dynamic and eclectic approach allowed us to create unique and vibrant collections that resonated with our audience.
Where do you find inspiration?
I draw inspiration from all around me, particularly from the streets of the places I visit and the diverse people I meet along the way.

My work is often characterized as organized chaos—complex, avant-garde, and brimming with vibrant colors.

Each of our pieces tells a story inspired by the cultures and experiences I've encountered in my travels. What brand values are most important for Isabelle Gougenheim Designs?

What was your previous work experience before launching?
Before launching my own brand, I worked for several design companies, including Holly Hunt Collection. I was also a partner at the Kevin Reilly Collection.
What was the toughest circumstance you overcame when just starting your business?
One of the toughest circumstances I overcame when starting Isabelle Gougenheim Designs was understanding the sales channels. This challenge was particularly daunting because I did not have any prior experience in the fashion industry. Grasping how the market functions, identifying our target customers, and understanding the intricacies of the industry were all new and complex tasks for me. It required extensive research, learning, and adaptation. Gaining a deep understanding of these aspects was crucial for building a successful business foundation and effectively reaching our audience.
If you could go back and tell yourself one thing before beginning your career, what would it be?
If I could go back and tell myself one thing before beginning my career, it would be to be patient and work hard. The journey of building a successful business is full of challenges and takes time. Patience is essential to navigate the ups and downs, and hard work is necessary to turn your vision into reality. Trusting the process and staying dedicated to your goals are key elements for long-term success.
What other passions do you have outside of fashion and design?
Outside of fashion and design, my biggest passions are art and dance. Both serve as powerful mediums of creativity for me. Art allows me to explore and express my ideas in vivid and dynamic ways, while dance provides a physical outlet for creativity, movement, and emotion. These passions deeply influence my work and inspire the unique designs you see in Isabelle Gougenheim Designs.
What is the one piece of advice you would give to someone just starting their own brand?
My advice for anyone starting their own brand is to be consistent and creative. Stay true to your vision and keep pushing boundaries with your ideas. Also, be patient and committed; give your brand at least two years to grow and develop before expecting significant results.
What is the most important thing you would like your brand to be recognized for?
I want my brand to reflect the artistry and creativity I pour into each piece. The feedback I cherish the most is hearing how my designs have made a positive impact on people's lives, boosting their confidence and allowing them to express themselves more boldly through their outfits.
What should consumers expect to see next from Isabelle Gougenheim Designs?
Consumers can expect exciting things from Isabelle Gougenheim Designs in the near future. We are currently working on the launch of an exclusive capsule collection, set to arrive at the end of the year. While I can't reveal too many details just yet, I can say that it's our biggest and most ambitious project to date.
What do you envision for the future of your brand?
I envision a future for Isabelle Gougenheim Designs filled with even more art and an ever-growing number of happy customers. We aim to continue pushing the boundaries of creativity, introducing new and innovative designs that resonate with people. Our goal is to keep expanding our reach, bringing joy and confidence to our customers through our vibrant and unique pieces. Ultimately, we want to make art an integral part of everyday fashion, enriching lives one design at a time.
