Since time immemorial, women have been passionate about jewelry. Enthralling, inspiring and inexplicably desirable – jewels are the ultimate expression of our innermost feelings.
Even as a child, I was mesmerized by jewels. I would try on my mother’s jewelry as she dressed for dinner, bedecked in her swinging gold chains and sparkling earrings. I plunged my small hands into my grandmother’s suede jewelry case, enchanted by the elaborate, antique Victorian rings, the delicate cameo brooches and the romantic, flower-inspired studded bracelets.
Later, I developed a passion for imagining new settings and designs for antique jewelry, thrilled to see each item come alive again, just as I had envisioned – each one unique and just for me. Classical and contemporary. Timeless and ageless.
However, my journey into the world of jewelry design was long-winded, to say the least. Armed with a degree in Corporate Communications, I was plunged into the frenetic world of marketing and PR for many years. Even then, I always managed to find time to redesign and ultimately recreate jewels that I acquired on a whim or inherited along the way.
Now, mother of triplet teenage girls and, drawing on decades of life experience, the time has come to launch my own business, to follow my long-held dream of creating simply beautiful jewelry, that is just right for today’s professional woman. Marina Yglesias jewelry was born.
However, in today’s world, Marina Yglesias jewelry had to have sustainability at its core. And we decided to make it from Women, to Women. We indulge our love for beautiful craftsmanship and, in doing so, we contribute in a meaningful way to improving other women´s lives. Jewelry can – and should be – a powerful force for good.
