Tell us the story behind how your brand came to life. What inspired its creation?

ZD Zero Defects was born from a legacy. Our roots go back to 1920 in Barcelona, where our family has been manufacturing underwear for generations. The brand was created to preserve that savoir-faire while reinterpreting it for today’s world: fewer pieces, better made, timeless and honest. We wanted to prove that true quality, when done properly, never goes out of style.

How did you choose your brand name, and what does it represent?

“Zero Defects” is both a commitment and a philosophy. It reflects our obsession with doing things right from the very beginning: from selecting the purest raw materials to perfecting every stitch. It also speaks about respect—towards the garment, the person who wears it, and the people who make it.

"We manufacture 100% in Barcelona, in our own facilities, with full control over the process. In a fast-fashion world, we stand for slow fashion, traceability and authenticity. We don’t chase trends—we build essentials that last."

What core values guide your brand, and how do they show up in your designs?

Quality, transparency, sustainability and comfort are at the heart of everything we do. Our designs are clean, timeless and functional, created to adapt to the body like a second skin. We focus on natural fibers, durability and perfect fit rather than trends.

Walk us through your creative process from concept to finished piece.

It always starts with the fabric. We select exceptional natural materials such as Egyptian cotton, organic cotton or soya yarn. From there, we work on patterns and fittings until the garment feels effortless on the body. Every piece is prototyped, tested and refined in our Barcelona workshop before going into production.

What sets your brand apart in today’s fashion landscape?

We manufacture 100% in Barcelona, in our own facilities, with full control over the process. In a fast-fashion world, we stand for slow fashion, traceability and authenticity. We don’t chase trends—we build essentials that last.

What was your first experience in the fashion industry, and how did it shape you?

My first experiences were inside the factory itself. Understanding the technical side of garment making taught me humility and respect for craftsmanship. It shaped a very hands-on, detail-driven way of leading the brand.

What has been your biggest challenge so far, and what did it teach you?

My biggest challenge so far was navigating the impact of Covid-19 on our business. What it taught me was resilience and adaptability. It was a difficult period, but it strengthened my ability to lead through uncertainty

What accomplishment are you most proud of to date?

Keeping local manufacturing alive for over a century and adapting it to today’s market without losing our essence. Seeing customers come back year after year is our greatest validation.

How do you connect with your customers and use their feedback?

We listen carefully. Customer feedback directly influences our fits, materials and new developments. Our relationship is built on trust and long-term dialogue, not on one-off purchases.

Besides your brand, what are you passionate about?

Outside of my brand, tennis is a true passion of mine, and Rafael Nadal has been a constant source of inspiration over the years. I deeply admire not only his talent, but his mindset: the humility, perseverance and inner strength he brings to everything he does. Watching his journey has often reminded me that real excellence is built quietly, day by day, with effort, patience and respect for the process—values I try to carry with me both in life and in my work.

What excites you most about the future of your brand?

Continuing to grow internationally while staying true to our roots. Bringing “Made in Barcelona” craftsmanship to a global audience, and proving that slow fashion is not only possible—but desirable.
