Effei celebrates the textile art of Indian culture with Alavida, a cotton fabric hand-printed in India using the block printing technique. Hand-printing with woodblocks is an ancient art form in India and many countries in East Asia. This ancient printing technique uses a hand-engraved wooden block that is dipped in dye and hand-printed onto the fabric. The result is a unique fabric that connects us to a rich tradition and history of handmade craftsmanship. Woodblock printing on fabric is the earliest, simplest and slowest of all textile printing methods. It is capable of producing stunning and artistic results, some of which are not achievable with any other method.
